Dear Residents of Springfield & Greater Greene County,
Every day, thousand of individuals and families in our community live without the health
care they need. All too often their health problems go untreated until they face a crisis. As
the percentage of uninsured continues to rise, our current healthcare system is not able
to effectively respond.
The Health Commission is an unprecedented public- private partnership formed from the shared vision that through collaboration we can improve community health and reduce health care costs for consumers and providers.
In reviewing our esteemed Board of Directors list, it is readily evident that we have set competition aside and have joined hands to collectively determine how best to align and allocate resources to overcome the health care challenges that plague our community.
The Commission aims to solve such complex questions as how to encourage more primary or preventative health care education; how to provide access to these providers in low- income neighborhoods; how to coordinate Emergency Room care for the uninsured without compromising services rendered in emergent situations; and how to get medication to people who cannot afford such.
It's time think perhaps unconventionally about how the health care system works in our community. I invite you to review the Advisory Board descriptions on our site and consider taking an active role in helping us uncover the solutions. Together, we can create a coordinated, patient-centered, preventative-based system that eliminates health disparities and makes quality services available at the lowest possible costs.
Become a part of the movement. Let’s help the citizens of Springfield-Greene County lead healthier, longer, more productive lives.
Sincerely,
Kevin Gipson, Chairman
Director of Health
Springfield-Greene County Health Department
